Automated Mobility Switzerland takes place on Tuesday 4 May 2027 at the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne. It is organised by the Swiss Association for Autonomous Mobility (SAAM).

The event alternates with the Automated Mobility Summit. The international Summit takes place in even years (2026, 2028). Automated Mobility Switzerland is the national edition, held in odd years from 2027.

Focus of the 2027 edition

SAAM describes Switzerland as an early mover in automated mobility, while countries such as Belgium, Spain, Slovakia, the United Kingdom and Norway are preparing their own deployments. The 2027 edition addresses the next step: moving from pilot projects to commercial services. According to SAAM, this requires fleets of more than 100 vehicles in order to build operational experience quickly.

The cantons are expected to be able to issue permits for commercial applications by March 2028. The programme looks at how they can coordinate across cantonal borders, in line with the SAAM Roadmap.

Provisional programme (October 2026)

  1. Shared baseline
The SAAM Roadmap, the Alliance for Automated Driving (ALAUF), and updates from four projects: what worked, what blocked deployment and what comes next.
  2. Panel with cantonal government members
A debate on concrete propositions for the route from pilots to permanent services.
  3. Implementation workshops
An introductory case study, followed by four parallel sessions: approval and liability; operations and workforce; procurement and business models; public space and users.
  4. Action charter
Three to five commitments, each with an owner and a deadline, followed by a public progress update.
  5. Launch
Presentation of a new publication on automated mobility in Switzerland (to be confirmed).

Throughout the day: vehicle exhibits, control-centre demonstrations and short project films.

Format

  • No session lasts longer than 45 minutes. Impulse talks, dialogue, workshops, exhibition and plenary votes alternate.
  • Impulse talks last eight minutes and each put forward one proposition for discussion.
