CHORUS – Coordinating Holistic Orchestration for Reliable Urban Mobility Services
European project developing a framework to connect and orchestrate all modes of mobility.
Initiated-by Horizon Europe
AmiGo is a mobility service by PostBus in Eastern Switzerland that uses fully electric, autonomous vehicles available on demand via app. With up to four passengers per vehicle and ride-pooling capability, the service complements conventional public transport in less-served or off-peak areas. The test phase begins December 2025 and full driverless operations are planned by early 2027.

The AmiGo initiative represents a major step forward in smart mobility. PostBus has partnered with global autonomous-driving specialist Apollo Go to deploy an electric fleet of vehicles capable of carrying up to four passengers, with storage space for luggage, and operating on a book-via-app model with ride-pooling. Mapping runs without passengers start in December 2025, followed by pilot rides with safety drivers in 2026, leading to fully driverless public operation by quarter 1 of 2027.
AmiGo is designed to supplement rather than replace existing scheduled services: it targets areas where fixed-line transport is less efficient — for instance during off-peak hours or in rural and mountainous zones. By offering flexibility, pooling, and electric autonomous vehicles, the project contributes to reducing emissions, improving accessibility and modernising mobility in Eastern Switzerland. Strong institutional support underpins the project, including the cantons of St. Gallen, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Appenzell Innerrhoden, Thurgau, the Federal Office of Transport (FOT) and the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO).
Through AmiGo, PostBus aims to become a pioneer in Switzerland’s autonomous-transport sector, creating a blueprint for future rollout of driverless mobility services across the country. This project not only enhances passenger convenience and network reach but also marks a strategic move towards integrating autonomous vehicles responsibly into the national transport framework.
